A Brief History of the Firm
SDR, at the time known as Sophisticated Data Research, was founded in 1973 by Bill Neal and David Feldman. From 1973 through 1993 the company provided technical support services to the marketing research industry, principally advanced analytics, survey tabulation, and sampling services. During this period, SDR was widely recognized as one of the nation's leading firms specializing in the application of advanced statistical modeling and analysis techniques to marketing issues. The firm and its principals had six citations in the Bibliography of Marketing Research Methods.
In 1994 SDR redefined its business model and decided to leverage SDR's advanced research knowledge and capabilities to enter the strategic marketing consulting arena, leveraging marketing research as a basis for developing recommendations for corporate marketing strategy and tactics. Since that time we are doing business as SDR Consulting. The focus of our business model became "Fact-Based Consulting in Marketing Strategy", and we revived our original slogan, "Reducing the Risks in Decision-Making."
In addition to the company's consulting practice, SDR's principle consultants are very actively writing articles, teaching and presenting at general marketing and industry specific conferences. In addition, SDR provides marketing related legal consulting.
Both Bill Neal and Dave Feldman have worked together over the past 3 decades to lead and manage SDR to its current consulting practice. SDR's commitment to the marketing industry has manifested itself through the efforts of Bill Neal as he has taken a senior leadership position in all major marketing associations.
